Aside from setting the trends for next year, the Spring Summer 2017 fashion shows of last month also set a new trend for the future of the fashion industry. With a number of designers making their SS17 collections available for sale as soon as the last model stepped off the runway.

Looking back on the looks from NYFW, LFW, MFW and PFW, it's easy to see that many of those big trends are continuations of, or evolutions of current styles all around us. Right now, it's so easy to inform your current wardrobe with those key AW16 looks, all whilst looking ahead and investing in styles that will see you right through into SS17 as well.

This season is all about volume, all about ruffles. Now forget about girlish frills, this season, ruffles have grown up.

It's all about roughing up your ruffles this year. Ruffles for Spring Summer 2016 are here to add bold silhouettes, asymmetric tiered hems, voluminous sleeves and confident detailing to your wardrobe. Clash these traditionally feminine textures with androgynous accessories, edgy sheer layers and chunky bold shoes.

Moving on from runways of NYFW, last week saw us jump into the world of London Fashion Week. And it didn't disappoint. From McQueen's floaty lace layers, to Erderm's clashing sheer textures, to Simone Rocha's grunged up sheer silhouettes. Take a look over our highlights of what is to come this Autumn Winter 2016 season.

Another fashion week has been ticked off the calender, with Milan giving us a romantic insight into the trends of Autumn Winter 2015.

For expert use of lace in gothic yet feminine ways, we can always look to the designers of Milan. This MFW didn't disappoint. Black lace dominateed the catwalks, a feature in many designers collections. As with LFW, high collar shirt dresses in both midi and mini length were everywhere.

The glamour of Italian design houses was evident as ever with regal golden trims. But this season we also saw more floaty white sheer numbers full of romantic layers. Drawing on the 70s boho vibes favoured by many designers this season and showing how you can expect to transition your crisp white Summer pieces into the colder months of Autumn too.

Whilst we have to wait until Spring to wear the fashion styles that have been hitting the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris over the last few weeks, there is no reason you can't introduce some of the beauty trends into your AW14 style.

Without a doubt, SS15 is the season of slicked back wet look hair. Seen on the catwalks of Thakoon, Balmain and Vivienne Tam to name just a few. Recreate that 'just out of the shower' look with gel to slick back hair for an artfully unkempt do harking back to the 90s.

Red was the colour on the lips of many SS15 models. Often worn with winged eyeliner and smokey eye shadow for a gothic look on the catwalks, wear your favourite red lippy on its own with nude eye make-up to tone it done for day-to-day wear come Spring.

Whilst red lipstick was a make-up artist favourite, fresh minimal make was certainly a more popular look for many designers. Complementing the wet-look hair, simple matte make up featured in the SS15 shows of Chritsopher Kane, Alberta Ferretti, Alexander Wang and Victoria Beckham.

Milan Fashion Week is the base for many of the biggest and most established fashion houses around the world, with Gucci, Prada, Armani and Dolce and Gabbana calling the streets of MFW home. It was Dolce and Gabbana who delivered one of the most talked about show finales of the week, a parade of sleek models wearing crisp white blouses off set with spanish matador inspired and D&G  style embellished red shorts. Led of course, by model of the moment Kendall Jenner.

Dolce and Gabbana stuck with their signature palette of black, white and red teamed with lots of regal golden embellishments. They also stuck with their familiar lace and sheer fabrics that they command so well, this time causing some serious sock envy to with their delicate lace offerings.
For now, we're loving Paris Fashion Week which is proving itself to be even more innovative that we have come to expect both with it's trends and its immersive catwalk shows.
