Aside from setting the trends for next year, the Spring Summer 2017 fashion shows of last month also set a new trend for the future of the fashion industry. With a number of designers making their SS17 collections available for sale as soon as the last model stepped off the runway.

Looking back on the looks from NYFW, LFW, MFW and PFW, it's easy to see that many of those big trends are continuations of, or evolutions of current styles all around us. Right now, it's so easy to inform your current wardrobe with those key AW16 looks, all whilst looking ahead and investing in styles that will see you right through into SS17 as well.

To help our NAVY girls along, we've picked out a few key items from our current AW16 collection that capture a look from the latest catwalk shows. So get set to invest in some Autumn Winter looks that you will still be rocking throughout Spring 2017 and beyond.

If you thought that we'd already hit 'peak' ruffle, then we're afraid to say you're wrong. The love for a touch of frill has been growing since SS16. At the moment, AW16 is all about big and bold ruffle silhouettes. But one thing we have learned from the latest run of shows at London Fashion Week is that those ruffles, frills and high collars are here to stay. And are getting even bigger and bolder than before.

If it's for Spring Summer 2017, then it needs ruffles. Whether up, down, sideways or all around, SS17 is all about taking traditional femininity and adding a touch of 80s power dressing, or turning it dark with a punky attitude and edgy accessories.

With the circus of London Fashion Week swirling the streets of the capital, LFW always offers some sweet street style inspiration. Take a look over our top street style looks so far this week as journalists, bloggers, celebs and editors head between the AW16 shows taking place around the city.

Bora Aksu and Erderm brought some beauty to the week with reimagined lace designs, lots of emphasis on floor length dresses and volume. Burberry proved that lace isn't just for ladies. It was also the highlight of how to work the lo-fi look, teaming delicate lace with tench coats and rucksacks.

JW Anderson and Ashley William tell us that the 80s is still set to be an important reference in 2016, bomber jackets are key. Whilst Simone Rocha's floaty and quirky silhouettes capture the dreamy side of SS16.

The catwalks of London Fashion Week have given us a taste of whats to come this AW15. Dark, romantic lace, full of volume and layers proved popular for lots of designers at LFW.

Edgy black lace ramped up the darkness long associated with Autumn Winter collections. High collared sheer dresses were at hit, with voluminous and oversized silhouettes hinting towards a revival of 80s trends to come.

Looking for something to occupy yourself between shows at London Fashion Week? There is still time to pop along to the Guy Bourdin: Image Maker exhibition and grab an insight into some of fashion photography's most iconic images.

Conveniently housed right in the heart of LFW at Somerset House, you can easily drop by and immerse yourself in the surreal, the colourful and the provocative world of Guy Bourdin.


The largest exhibition of Bourdin's work ever held in the UK, it is the perfect opportunity to witness some of his most famous images alongside the lesser know work of his 40 year career as a top fashion photographer.

Viewing this retrospective of Boudin's photography as a whole, you can't avoid the sense of quite how innovative and boundary pushing his work truly was. Especially when considering that much of this work comes from the late 70s. When publishing abstract and sexually provocative fashion photography as part of high profile campaigns or even amongst the pages of Vogue was uncommon and controversial.

Be sure to immerse yourself in the 360° cinema of Boudin's bold fashion films from the same era. A new and unheard of medium for fashion imagery at the time, capturing the glamourous femme fatales so iconic within Guy Bourdin's but in a whole new light.
