With Autumn Winter comes the darker months, highlighted even more so by the darkness of Halloween. Adding a gothic twist and influence to all things, including the world of fashion.

Inspired by the season, 'Death Becomes Her (New Orleans)' is a fashion editorial capturing just how black lace layers are the perfect accompaniment for this time of year. Stylist Ali McNally works the witchy black lace with a number of NAVY pieces to capture the depth and darkness of this season.

Aside from setting the trends for next year, the Spring Summer 2017 fashion shows of last month also set a new trend for the future of the fashion industry. With a number of designers making their SS17 collections available for sale as soon as the last model stepped off the runway.

Looking back on the looks from NYFW, LFW, MFW and PFW, it's easy to see that many of those big trends are continuations of, or evolutions of current styles all around us. As we're sure you are aware, London Fashion Week has arrived and the Spring Summer 2017 catwalk shows are in full swing. But out on the streets of the capital, a whole other kind of catwalk show is taking place.

London is usually renowned for having some of the quirkiest and boldest street style looks of all the fashion weeks around the globe. However, this September we seeing another season of slicker and more pared back looks hitting the streets. Just like as with NYFW's street style snaps, there were frills, frills and more frills. One of the key trends of the AW16 season. The ruffled blouse in particular looks to be the LFW staple this season.

The capital of the UK will soon be buzzing with the shows of Fashion Week SS17. With London Fashion Week beginning on the 16th September, there is still time to finalise those all important looks to see you through the streets of LFW.

As the darker season approaches, look out for the gothic influences to creep further into your wardrobe. Tavi Gevinson vamps up her Autumn Winter 2016 look for Dazed's latest issue. A masterclass in how to wear black lace and brooding layers, all whilst invoking those punk trends that we are set to see grow this season.

As the darker season arrives, so does the black. Back in February, we saw so much top to toe black looks delivered on the catwalks of designers the world over. If you are someone who's wardrobe is mainly black, then this is the season for you. If black isn't your go to colour, then look forward to a season of experimenting with this more gothic tone.

But Autumn Winter 2016 sees a different way to wear black - get ready to layer up. With ruffles, lace, sheer textures, winter coats and plenty of pussy bows at your disposal this coming season, it's all to play for. Whilst we all know that ruffles have been an important trend for the Summer season, these frills are not going anywhere as we move into Autumn Winter 2016. But expect them to be bigger, fuller and more sculptural before.

Moving on from the cold shoulder cut out we've seen over the last few months, AW16 will see our shoulders and sleeves going into excess to make up for it. The silhouette for AW16 has gone big, so expect billowing shoulders and sleeves full of voluminous ruffles and frills.

Whilst in the past ruffles have had a decidedly victorian twist. The new season opens up the way for more a modern interpretation too, with big minimal frills and sensual lace ruffles. But if you are a fan of the darkness AW16 typically brings, not to worry, the gothic yet romantic influence will still be a key look in your Autumn Winter wardrobe.
