NAVY London Blog

The seasons have changed and here at NAVY, we certainly don't mind. After a long summer wearing floaty Summer styles, the time to begin wearing chunky textured knits and contrasting layers is here. It's time to take it to a darker place, as we look towards a more brooding and bold AW16 season than ever before.

And to get our NAVY girls ready, there is a whole load of of brand new NAVY looks available on ASOS. With everything from leather and lace combos, to voluminous ruffle silhouettes, to layers upon layers of lace. It's all new, all for AW16.

With a new season, comes new look book campaigns. The release of the Alexander McQueen Autumn Winter 2016 campaign is a real sign of what is to come. Taking the journey up to the highlands of Scotland to film this latest campaign, McQueen have delivered a collection of images that capture the gothic darkness of AW16 in a truly British kind of way.

Alongside the eerily beautiful look book images, an accompanying short film adds to the sprit of the collection. With snippets released on McQueen's Instagram account to tease viewers, we're looking forward to Autumn already.

Taking it dark, Numéro Russia is giving us all the gothic feels and a glimpse at what to expect for Autumn Winter 2016.

Set in an imposing stone church, photographer Francesco Vincenti captures an dark eerie atmosphere, perfect for the darker season. Whilst gothic black lace is always romanticised during the Autumn Winter season, Vincenti's editorial goes to show that white lace can lend itself well to this darker, edgier time of year.

With a month of fashion weeks having delivered a stream of AW16 collections and giving us an insight into the biggest new season trends. We thought we would treat you to a sneak peek of what is to come from us here at NAVY for the Autumn Winter 2016 collection.

With the circus of London Fashion Week swirling the streets of the capital, LFW always offers some sweet street style inspiration. Take a look over our top street style looks so far this week as journalists, bloggers, celebs and editors head between the AW16 shows taking place around the city.

As fashion week in New York draws to a close, it has been a week to show us all just how much the whole structure of the fashion show itself is changing. From interactive presentations and q&a's with models to Instagram collection debuts, the fashion shows as we know it is seriously evolving. But most importantly of all, fashion week is all about showcasing the upcoming trends for the next season.

Autumn Winter 2016 is looking to be darker, broodier and punkier than ever.

Check out our highlights from NYFW so far, behind the scenes and on the runway. Ready for the rest of the action still to come.

Halloween may be over but our love for all things gothic isn't. Everything about this time of year is dark and brooding, and so your wardrobe should be too. Victoriana influences were key for many designers this AW15, and this is the perfect time of year to bring that touch of gothic glamour to your look.

Think sheer layers, textured lace, long sleeves and high collars to hold onto the bewitching spirit of the time of year and embrace those gothic trends.

So much of the current NAVY collection has these finer details and darkly romantic influences. Shop it all in the flagship Topshop store at Oxford Circus, or online at ASOS right now.

Fittingly for the season, many designers took a dark and brooding turn with their Autumn Winter 2015 collections. Calling upon the bewitching and romantic influence of Victorian styling to add a gothic touch to the season.

Invest in high collared styles, gothic lace, dark make-up and sheer layers to bring a touch of this Victoriana influence into your daily wardrobe.

There is no doubt that sheer is back again for the Autumn Winter 2015 season, lending itself well to layering, high collar styles and gothic lace trends. But sheer also has the quality of being a great transitional fabric. Easing you from Summer into Autumn by layering up with these light fabrics without getting too bulky too quickly whatever the weather.

Sheer swept the runways of AW15, and no one did it better then Vivienne Tam, Maison Margiela, PPQ and Vera Wang. Take inspiration from the sheer delights of the catwalk and bring your transitional wardrobe to life with key sheer styles.

There is no doubt that the 80s is one of the most important influences upon the fashion industry this Autumn Winter season. Giving us an even greater reason to listen to some of our favourite music from the 1980s, including all things Siouxsie and the Banshees.

So take take a moment (in the name of fashion and research of course..) to immerse yourself in the decade and welcome in the weekend with a pinch of punk in Siouxsie style.
